Afghan National Army Mi-17 Helicopter Crashes in Kandahar Province Killing Two
An Afghan National Army (ANA) Mi-17 helicopter crashed in Maruf district in southern Kandahar province, killing at least two and injuring two more.
According to Afghan officials, the crash happened due to technical failure as it was landing. Taliban, however, said that the helicopter was shot down by the group’s fighters.
No further details have been provided.
Even though, the helicopter involved in the crash was not officially identified, it was most likely a Russian-made Mil Mi-17 medium twin-turbine transport helicopter, a variant of the Mil Mi-8.
