A Brazilian Air Force AMX A-1B twin-seat combat aircraft has crashed during a training mission near the city of Viamão, about 15 km from Porto Alegre (RS) on April 5.
The aircraft crashed and caught fire soon after in an open field in the rural area of the city. Both pilots were able to eject from the aircraft before the crash and were rescued by an Airbus Helicopters H-36 Caracal SAR helicopter and taken for medical evaluations.
AMX International AMX is a ground-attack aircraft jointly developed by Brazil and Italy. The AMX is designated A-11 Ghibli by the Italian Air Force and A-1 by the Brazilian Air Force.
