A Harbin Z-9 helicopter assigned to the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) crashed during a training flight at a park on Monday afternoon.
The accident was confirmed by a statement from the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).
The Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army reported a helicopter accident during its training at a park on Monday afternoon, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government said in a statement on Tuesday via its official website.
The brief statement said the incident took place in the area of Tai Lam Country Park. According to the statement, no residential buildings were damaged or civilians injured in the accident.
“The garrison is handling and investigating the incident in accordance with the Garrison Law. The bureau said it will continue to liaise with the garrison on the incident”, the statement added.
The Harbin Z-9 is a Chinese military utility helicopter with civilian variants. It is a licensed variant of the French Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin and is manufactured by Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation.
