Indian state-owned companies, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Israel’s Elbit Systems in the field of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV).
Anandi Ramalingam, Director (Marketing) at BEL; Cmde. S. Nayyar (Indian Navy Retd), Director (Ship Building) at GRSE, and Yaron Levi, Vice President (Naval Systems) at Elbit Systems, signed the tripartite MoU on behalf of BEL, GRSE and Elbit. The MoU was signed during the DefExpo 2020 exposition in Lucknow, India on Feb. 6.
According to a BEL statement, the MoU aims at leveraging the individual strengths of BEL, Elbit and GRSE for the development and customization of Elbit’s Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV) for the requirements of the Indian Navy.

Elbit Systems Limited, Israel, is engaged in the research, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, integration, support and maintenance of systems and products to the defense markets, including unmanned air and naval systems and simulators, command, control, communication and intelligence (C4I) systems.
