GDEB to conduct non-nuclear maintenance on submarines at NSSF New London

General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB) is being awarded a contract for the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative for non-nuclear maintenance on U.S. Navy nuclear submarines based at Naval Submarine Support Facility New London (NSSF New London).

The cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, worth around $46 million, was awarded by U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) located at Washington, DC. Fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance (Navy) funding in the amount of $20.1 million will be obligated at time of award and will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

The services under this contract are for non-nuclear repair services required to support submarine overhauls, maintenance, repair and modernization upgrades; ship alterations, temporary modifications and field changes; supplies and/or ancillary services and corrective and preventative maintenance.

This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to around $240 million.

The work will be performed in Groton, Connecticut, and is expected to be completed by December 2022.
