HMAS Toowoomba, HMAS Success Arrives in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Royal Australian Navy ships HMAS Toowoomba (FFH 156) and HMAS Success (OR 304) arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for a scheduled port visit as part of the Navy’s South East Asia Deployment.

HMAS Toowoomba is an Anzac-class frigate and HMAS Success is a Durance-class multi-product replenishment oiler.

A combined team from Toowoomba and Success played volleyball against a team of cadets from the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) Technical College during a port visit. Flight Commander HMAS Toowoomba, Lieutenant Commander Joel Cooper said it was a magnificent experience to play a match with the VPN during the port visit. The matches came as Australia and Vietnam celebrated the 20th anniversary year of defence cooperation between countries.

HMAS Anzac (FFH 150), HMAS Toowoomba and HMAS Success are currently deployed to South East Asia for approximately three months and will conduct a series of exercises and port visits with nations in the region to develop interoperability.
