IOMAX has displayed its Archangel II armed surveillance aircraft equipped with Terma Modular Aircraft Survivability Equipment (MASE) Pod at the Dubai Airshow 2017.
Terma was selected by IOMAX to provide the aircraft self-protection suite for their second generation Archangel aircraft which is operational within UAE Air Force (UAEAF).
The aircraft self-protection suite is managed using the latest Terma ALQ-213 Electronic Warfare Management System hardware and software. The MASE pod provides a mission configuration capability and can be configured to support a variety of aircraft self-protection solutions depending on the specific aircraft and mission requirements.
IOMAX Archangel II is based on Thrush S2R-600 agricultural aircraft, modified as two-seat armed attack aircraft. It is powered by a single 1,600 shp (1,200 kW) PT6A-67F turboprop engine. It is fitted with 6 hardpoints for 6,000 lb (2,700 kg) of external stores.
The Block 2 model differs from the earlier Block 1 and Border Patrol Aircraft (BPA) with the addition of the large L-3 Wescam MX-25 electro-optical camera system under the fuselage.
The aircraft can be armed with GBU-12/58 Laser Guided Bombs, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, and CIRIT 2.75” Laser Guided Rockets.
In addition to Special Operations direct support missions, Archangel is perfectly suited to Strike Coordination and Reconnaissance (SCAR), Forward Air Controller (Airborne) (FAC(A)), Base Defense, and Convoy Escort missions.
