Israeli Air Force aircraft and attack helicopters, and Army tanks have struck over 70 Hamas and PIJ (Palestinian Islamic Jihad) military targets throughout the Gaza Strip.
Among the sites struck are: an offensive terror tunnel in Darj; four military compounds in Rafah and Deir al-Balah; and a military observation post in Jabalia. In addition, among the sites struck are PIJ targets, including: two offensive terror tunnels in Rafah; a weapons manufacturing site in Rafah; four military compounds in Nuseirat, Rafah and Beit Lahia; and a military post used for launching rockets from Jabalia at Israel.
As of now, approximately 200 launches were identified from the Gaza strip at Israel. Approximately 60 launches were intercepted by the IAF’s “Iron Dome” aerial defense system. Most of the launches landed in open spaces. Earlier this evening, an IDF soldier was severely injured by an anti-tank missile in the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. His family has been notified.
“Hamas is leading the Gaza Strip to destruction and will feel the intensity of the IDF’s response in the coming hours”, said IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis. “So far we have attacked a wide range of targets. Firing squads, military compounds, and observation posts. The attempt to harm civilians is unacceptable to us and we will continue to respond with force”.
The attacks were performed in retaliation to the terrorist attack aimed towards Israel’s citizens led by terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip. The IDF views the attack on Israeli communities with great severity. The Hamas terror organization is responsible for all events transpiring in and from the Gaza Strip, and will bear the consequences for its actions.
