L3 Fuzing and Ordnance System (L3 FOS) was awarded a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract modification to supply additional M734A1 and M783 fuze units to Afghanistan and Bahrain.
The modification, worth around $51 million, was awarded by the U.S. Army Contracting Command (ACC) located in New Jersey. Fiscal 2016, 2017 and 2018 aviation procurement, Army; and foreign military sales funds in the combined amount were obligated at the time of the award.
The contract work will be performed in Cincinnati, Ohio, with an estimated completion date of Jan. 31, 2022.
M734 Multi-Option Fuze is the U.S. Army’s newest-generation, NATO-standard Multi-Option Fuze for Mortars. It is a rangefinder and collision detection system used on 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm mortar shells as a trigger to detonate the shells at the most damaging heights of burst when combating battlefield threats.
M783 Point Detonating/Delay (PD/DLY) Mortar Fuze is U.S. Army’s next-generation, NATO-standard electronic PD/DLY fuze for mortars designed to support close-range, indirect fire support to infantry units in combat operations.
