L3 Wins U.S. Army Contract for STORM 2 Next-Generation Rifle-Mounted Laser Rangefinder

L3 Technologies announced that it has been awarded a seven-year, $215 million contract from the U.S. Army Contracting Command to provide soldiers with the Small Tactical Optical Rifle-Mounted Micro Laser Rangefinder 2 (STORM 2).

This contract complements L3’s recent $391 million U.S. Army contract for the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle – Binocular (ENVG-B), further strengthening the company’s portfolio of networked systems and demonstrating its progress as a prime contractor for innovative C6ISR technologies.

“L3 is continuously investing in technologies like STORM 2 that deliver state-of-the-art precision in a variety of conditions to give our soldiers a critical advantage in the field,” said Lynn Bollengier, Vice President and General Manager of L3’s Warrior Mission Solutions business. “We are proud to support the Secretary of Defense’s six priorities for the Army’s modernization mission that are transforming our defense strategy.”

Developed and assembled at L3’s Integrated Land Systems headquarters in Londonderry, New Hampshire, which is part of the company’s ISR Systems business segment, STORM 2 is a rifle-mounted, multifunction laser system that provides soldiers with heightened performance and enhanced visibility at extended range during field maneuvers, surveillance and engagement, while remaining undetected during dismounted and vehicle-mounted missions.
