Montenegro Signs G2G Agreement with Israel to Procure Elbit Systems RCWS for JLTV Vehicles

Montenegro has signed a historic Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement with Israel for the acquisition of Elbit Systems Remote Control Weapon Stations (RCWS) which will be integrated into its U.S. manufactured Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV).

The agreement was signed between the Montenegro Ministry of Defense and the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMoD)’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT).

“This 1st GTG agreement is applauded by all of us at IMoD as a stepping stone to expanding and deepening our cooperation with the state of Montenegro, a strategic NATO ally and a friend to the State of Israel”, said SIBAT Director Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Yair Kulas.

The G-to-G agreement will award Elbit Systems a contract, worth approximately $35 million, for the RCWS.

Montenegro signed a US$36.17 million contract for the procurement of 67 JLTVs. The vehicles will equip Montenegro’s NATO-declared forces: the 1st Infantry Company in Nikšić and the 2nd Infantry Company in Pljevlja.

The first 20 vehicles are scheduled to arrive in 2020, making Montenegro Europe’s first JLTV operator. Montenegro is to acquire 55 JLTVs in basic configuration, eight in anti-tank configuration, and the remaining four in medical and command configurations.
