North Korea Fires Unidentified Projectiles into Sea of Japan

North Korea fired two unidentified projectiles into the Sea of Japan (East Sea) on Saturday, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

This is North Korea’s third launch of missiles/rockets this month. The North previously launched projectiles on March 2 and March 9.

It is not currently known what type of weapon was launched but according to Japan’s Defence Ministry, the objects “appeared to be ballistic missiles”.

The two projectiles were fired northeastward from areas near its western county of Sonchon in North Pyongan Province at 6:45 a.m. and 6:50 a.m., respectively. They flew around 410 kilometers, reaching a maximum altitude of around 50 km.
