Pakistan Releases Video of Captured Indian Air Force Pilot, Wg. Cmdr. Abhinandan Varthaman

Pakistan has released the video of an Indian Air Force pilot who was allegedly captured by the Pakistani Armed Forces after ejecting from a fighter jet.

The pilot was identified as Wg. Cmdr. Abhinandan Varthaman. He is reportedly a MiG-21 fighter aircraft pilot and is a son of a retired Air Marshal.

In a video released by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the arrested pilot introduces himself and says, “My name is Wing Commander Abhinandan. My service number is 27981 and I am a flying pilot. My religion is Hindu.”

When he was asked about more details the pilot replied, “Sorry Sir, that’s all I am supposed to tell you.” Pilot Abhi asked whether he was speaking to an officer and he was answered in the affirmative. He asked,” May I request a little bit of information? Am I with the Pakistani Army?”

Pakistan has claimed that it has shot down two IAF fighter jets and capture two Indian pilots. It added that one aircraft fell inside Indian side of Kashmir while other fell inside Pakistan side of Kashmir.
