Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jet shot down an Iranian spy drone 45km inside Pakistan territory over Panjgur on Tuesday. Panjgur is a district in the west Balochistan province of Pakistan.
A CAC/PAC JF-17 Thunder multi-role aircraft was the involved fighter. The incident is first of its kind in the history of the two Islamic neighbours, which share a 900 kilometre long porous border.
The drone’s downing was reported amid an emergency flag meeting between Pakistani and Iranian officials following the unprovoked firing of several mortar shells into Pakistani territory over the weekend. The Pakistani Air Force declined to comment on the matter.
