Pentagon Identifies National Guard Solider who Died in Afghanistan

The U.S. Department of Defense announced today the death of a U.S. National Guard soldier who was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan.

The deceased was identified as 1st Lt. Trevarius Ravon Bowman, 25, from Spartanburg, South Carolina. He died on May 19 in Bagram Air Force Base, Afghanistan, from a non-combat-related incident.

Bowman was assigned to Company B, 198th Signal Battalion, 261st Signal Brigade, Newberry, South Carolina. The unit is attached to the 228th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade, South Carolina National Guard.

The DoD statement added that the incident is under investigation.
