Russian Tu-142 Anti-Submarine Aircraft Conduct Arctic Mission

Two Russian Tu-142 long-range anti-submarine aircraft of the Northern Fleet performed a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean and the North-East Atlantic on Nov. 29.

The flight duration was about 12 hours. During this time, the planes have covered over 7 thousand kilometers.

In the designated area of ​​the North-East Atlantic, the aircraft worked out interaction with the crew of the large anti-submarine ship “Vice-Admiral Kulakov” and jointly performed a number of tasks to search for submarines.

The Russian defense ministry said in a statement that the flights were carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters.
