Russian Tu-22M3 long-range bombers conducts airstrikes in Syria
The Tu-22M3 long-range bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) carried out a massed airstrike against Islamic State terrorist targets near Abu Kamal, Deir ez-Zor province, Syria on Nov. 23.
The aircraft, that took off from Russia, has flown over 2,000 km to target militant strongholds near the settlement of al-Qut’ah. The strike has resulted in the elimination of the strongholds, concentrations of manpower and hardware of militants.
Moreover the Su-24 bombers from the Khmeimim air base have engaged standalone objects with pinpoint bombing.
The bombers were provided escort by Su-30SM and Su-35S fighter jets scrambled from the Khmeimim air base.
