Saab Receives Order from Swedish Navy for Additional Trackfire RWS Systems

Saab has received an additional order from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) regarding Trackfire Remote Weapon Station (RWS) for the Royal Swedish Navy.

Trackfire RWS will be installed on the new Combat Boat 90 (Strb90 HSM, CB90 HSM) used by the navy’s Amphibian Forces. Swedish shipyard, Dockstavarvet is under contract from FMV to build 18 CB90 HSM boats with delivery running from 2018 to early 2020.

“This order is further proof that the Swedish customer continues to trust Saab and our products. Trackfire RWS is a flexible system with very high precision and performance”, said Anders Carp, Senior Vice President and Head of Saab’s business area Surveillance.

This is an addition to an order that Saab received from FMV in August 2017.

The design of Trackfire RWS offers a high degree of flexibility to meet customers’ requirements. Different combinations of sensors, weapons and integrations on different platforms are included in the design from the outset. Both land and naval platform integration are part of Trackfire’s capability. In addition to the stabilisation and hit performance, the RWS features a Stabilised Independent Line of Sight (SILOS) and option to mount a coaxial weapon to meet requirements for scalable effects.

Trackfire RWS forms part of Saab’s portfolio of fire control products, together with UTAAS (Universal Tank and Anti-Aircraft Sight) for Combat Vehicle 90. The products share common technology and sub-systems such as the Fire Control Computer, Video Tracking Module, Recoil Buffer and Stabilisation Technology.
