Saudi Arabian air defense system has intercepted an incoming ballistic missile over Khamis Mushayt launched from Yemen, Al Arabiya reports.
The missile was reportedly launched by Houthi rebels. According to the reports, the Saudi military has also destroyed the missile’s launch pad in Yemen.
According to reports by Al-Masdar News, Yemeni Army’s rocket battalion fired a Qaher-2M long-range ballistic missile towards the King Khaled Military Airport located near the Khamis Mushayt area in the southwestern Saudi Arabia.
It is not clear whether this missile is the one intercepted by the Saudi authorities.
Tonight’s missile launch marked the first time the Yemeni military has attacked the King Khaled Airport, as they typically target the King Fahd Military Base.
