Three Sailors Assigned to U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier USS George H.W. Bush Died by Suicide Last Week

Three sailors assigned to the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush died last week in separate, unrelated incidents of apparent suicide, the service announced.

The sailors were identified as Electronics Technician (Nuclear) Chief Petty Officer James Harold Shelton, Aviation Ordnanceman First Class Petty Officer Vincent Michael Forline and Airman Ethan Thomas Lee Stuart. Shelton and Stuart were found deceased in separate incidents at off-base locations on Sept. 19 while Forline died by suicide on Sept. 14.

These deaths mark the third, fourth, and fifth crew member suicides in the last two years, said a statement released by CAPT Sean Bailey, the Commanding Officer of USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77).
