Turkey has taken delivery of two Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft to be integrated with domestically developed HAVA SOJ Electronic Warfare (EW) system.
The delivery was announced by the Turkish Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) on Friday. The aircraft were inspected by İsmail Demir, Chairman of SSB, as well as the representatives of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ/TAI), ASELSAN, Air Forces Command and Bombardier, at TAI facilities.
The HAVA SOJ (Remote Electronic Support/Electronic Attack Ability in Air Platform) project has been initiated by the SSB to develop an electronic warfare special mission aircraft. The initial contract for the project was signed between SSB and ASELSAN and was later transferred to ASELSAN-TAI joint venture. The airframe modifications to house the mission systems will be done by TAI.
All of the electronic warfare mission systems to be integrated into the aircraft will be developed and produced in Turkey, according to a statement. The systems will have superior technological features than the Land-Based Remote Electronic Support/Electronic Attack (KARA SOJ) system.
Four HAVA SOJ systems to be built under the project and the same will be delivered to the Air Force Command by 2023. The systems will be able to detect, identify and locate enemy communication and radar systems (air defense, early warning, etc).
