Turkey’s Gendarmerie General Command Takes Delivery of Two Anka-S Unmanned Aircraft

Turkey’s Gendarmerie General Command took delivery of two Anka-S unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) from Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), the company said in a statement.

Anka-S is a serial production configuration of Anka, a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV developed by TAI for the requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces.

The UAV is equipped with ViaSat’s VR-18C Highpower SATCOM antenna and a national flight control computer. It is, therefore, capable of being controlled through satellite. It is powered by Thielert Centurion 2.0S diesel cycle aircraft engine.

As of September 2018, TAI delivered 8 Anka-S to the Turkish Air Force. TAI is planning to deliver a total of 10 Anka-S to Turkish Air Force before 2019.
