Two Hawk aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF)’s Surya Kiran aerobatics demonstration team had crashed at about 11:50 am Tuesday while practicing for the 12th edition of Aero India 2019.
One pilot was killed in the crash while two others were injured after ejecting from the aircraft. The injured were taken to the Command Hospital. The deceased was identified as Wg. Cdr. Sahil Gandhi and the injured were identified as Wg. Cdr. V. T. Shelke and Sqn. Ldr. T. J. Singh.

A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the accident.
Surya Kiran is an aerobatics demonstration team of the Indian Air Force. The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team was formed in 1996 and are a part of the 52nd Squadron of the IAF.
The squadron was initially composed of the HAL HJT-16 Kiran Mk.2 military trainer aircraft till 2011 and were based at the Bidar Air Force Station in Karnataka. The team was suspended in February 2011 and was re-established with Hawk Mk-132 aircraft in 2017.
