Two U.S. service members were killed in Afghanistan while conducting an operation in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, on March 22.
The deceased were identified as Spc. Joseph P. Collette, 29, of Lancaster, Ohio and Sgt. 1st Class Will D. Lindsay, 33, of Cortez, Colorado. Collette was assigned to the 242nd Ordnance Battalion, 71st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group based at Fort Carson, Colorado. Lindsay was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), also based at Fort Carson, Colorado.
The soldiers died in Kunduz Province, Afghanistan, as a result of wounds sustained while engaged in combat operations. The incident is under investigation, said a U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) statement.
