Two U.S. service members were killed and two others were injured when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province, the military said in a statement Saturday.
“Two U.S. service members were killed and two U.S. service members were wounded in action today when their vehicle struck an IED in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan,” according to the statement released by the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission.
“In accordance with US Department of Defense policy, the names of the service members killed in action will be withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete,” added the statement.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
