U.S. Air Force forward deploys F-22 Raptor fighter jets to Poland

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) has forward deployed its F-22 Raptor fifth-generation stealth fighter jets from RAF Lakenheath, U.K. to the Powidz Air Base, Poland on Oct. 17.

At Powidz Air Base, the jets will conduct training and exercises with USAF F-15 Eagle aircraft and NATO allies. The deployed Raptors are assigned to the USAF 1st Fighter Wing stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

The aircraft from the 27th Fighter Squadron and 94th Fighter Squadron arrived at RAF Lakenheath from Joint Base Langley-Eustis on Oct. 8.

This forward deployment is an opportunity for the F-22s to maximize training opportunities, demonstrate the U.S. Air Force’s steadfast commitment to NATO allies and deter any actions that destabilize regional security.
