U.S. Army Soldier Dies in Non-Combat Related Incident in Iraq

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) announced, on April 21, the death of a U.S. Army soldier who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) in Iraq.

The deceased was identified as Spc. Ryan Dennis Orin Riley, 22, from Richmond, Kentucky. He died on April 20, in Ninawa Province, Iraq, from a non-combat related incident.

Riley was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The incident is under investigation, said a U.S. DoD statement.
