U.S. Military Unarmed Drone Lost Over Tripoli, Libya
An unarmed U.S. military remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) was “lost” over Tripoli, Libya on Nov. 21, the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) said in a statement.
The incident is currently under investigation, the statement added.
“The U.S. is conducting RPA operations in Libya to assess the ongoing security situation and monitor violent extremist activity. These operations are critical to counter-terror activity in Libya and are fully coordinated with appropriate government officials”, according to AFRICOM.
The type of drone involved in the incident was not revealed.
