U.S. Navy Conducts Operations with Chilean Navy in East China Sea

The U.S. Navy has conducted joint operations with the Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile) in the East China Sea, the U.S. Navy announced.

The operations involved the U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Russell (DDG-59) and the Chilean Navy multi-purpose frigate CS Almirante Blanco Encalada (FF-15). During the operations, an SH-32 Cougar helicopter from the Chilean Navy vessel landed onboard the U.S. warship.

According to the U.S. Navy, USS Russell is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations “in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region”.
