U.S. Navy Identifies Aircrew Killed in T-6B Texan II Crash

The U.S. Navy has identified the two-person aircrew killed in a crash involving a Navy T-6B Texan II trainer aircraft in Foley, Alabama on Friday.

The victims were identified as U.S. Navy Lt. Rhiannon Ross, 30 years old from Wixom, Michigan, and U.S. Coast Guard Ensign Morgan Garrett, 24 years old from Weddington, North Carolina.

Ross, an instructor pilot, and Garrett, a student aviator, took off from Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Milton, Florida, on a routine training flight. Whiting Field is a primary initial training location for Navy aviators and is approximately 100 miles northeast of the crash site.

The aircraft crashed in a residential area of Foley at approximately 5 p.m. CDT. A house and several cars caught fire at the crash site but the Navy confirmed that there were no civilian causalities from the incident.

Local and Navy emergency personnel responded to the scene to secure the area and ensure the safety of the local community.

The Navy said that it is working with local authorities to investigate the incident.
