United Launch Services (ULS) has been awarded a contract modification, value at around $1.2 billion, for National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Delta IV Heavy launch services.
This contract modification, awarded by the U.S. Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), is for Launch Operations Support (LOPS) services for five NSSL National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) missions, all of which require ULS’s Delta IV Heavy launch vehicle. The total contract value is increased from around $467.5 million to around $1.6 billion to include five annual options.
Work will be performed at Centennial, Colorado; Pueblo, Colorado; Decatur, Alabama; and Harlingen, Texas, with launch facilities at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida; and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, and is expected to be completed by Feb. 29, 2024.
ULS is a subsidiary of US launch service provider United Launch Alliance (ULA), which is a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin. On behalf of ULA, ULS contracts for launch services using the Atlas and Delta launch vehicles.
