U.S. Navy Personnel Command Staff Member Tests Positive for COVID-19

A staff member assigned to Navy Personnel Command (NPC) tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on March 20, the command said in a statement.

The staff member is currently following medical guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines.

The staff member presented symptoms on March 18, was tested for COVID-19 at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and was immediately directed to self-quarantine. NPC is following the guidelines set forth by the Department of Defense, and all personnel who travelled overseas are currently isolated for the 14-day self-observation period.

“NPC is committed to taking every measure possible to protect the health of our force. We remain in close coordination with state and federal authorities, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of our personnel and local population”, said the NPC statement.
