U.S. Special Operations Command Confirms First Positive COVID-19 Case

The U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) announced that a civilian assigned to its Tampa headquarters tested positive on March 21 for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This is the first confirmed COVID-19 case at USSOCOM headquarters. The civilian has been isolated at home, is receiving appropriate medical care, and had not returned to work or the base since March 13.

Co-workers who were in close proximity with the civilian are quarantined in their homes.

“USSOCOM is committed to taking every measure possible to protect the health of our force. We remain in close coordination with state and federal authorities, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of our personnel and the local population”, said a USSOCOM statement.
