Yemen’s Houthis Claims Shooting Down Saudi Apache Attack Helicopter

Yemen’s Houthi movement has claimed that it had shot down a Saudi Arabian Apache attack helicopter on Friday, killing its two pilots.

“A Saudi Apache helicopter was shot down by a surface-to-air missile… and its two pilots were killed as it was completely burned,” tweeted the group’s military spokesman, Yahya Sarea.

According to him, the incident took place in the Asir region of Yemen near the border with Saudi Arabia. He added that the helicopter was hit by a new surface-to-air missile (SAM) launched by Yemeni air defences, details of which will be revealed later.

Yahya Sarea also tweeted a video claiming to be that of the incident.

There was no immediate confirmation on the incident from the Saudi-led coalition that has been battling the group for more than four years.
